I woke up about 6am. Thats when my dad
leaves for work. I went to my mom's room
and hopped in her bed. When my mom
came back to the room she said, "wait
here, I heard something in the garage."
She grabbed a big orange flashlight and
started to leave but I said I would go too.
Walking down the hall she said it sounded
like a kitten crying. She heard it the night
before but thought it was outside. Then,
when we got to the garage we heard a
little meow. Our dog Duchess sleeps in
the garage. She was very exited to see
us. We took turns looking but found
nothing. No more meows. Then we ask
Duchess, "where is the kitty?". She went
right to the kitten. He was under a shelf.
We had a hard time prying him out, so we
called my older brother Kevin. It took a
little work but in about 15 minutes we had
him in a cage. He was a wild one and tried
to get out! He was white with tan ears and
a striped tail. The little guy was only about
6 inches long and had a pointy tail. We
gave him some milk and put a small litter
box in the cage. He was very hungry!
Later, when my dad came home, I showed
him the kitten. I thought he was really cute
and wanted to keep him. But I already had
1 cat. Later that night we all went back
into the garage and we were watching the
kitten play. Happily, to our surprise, my
dad said, "we can keep him". He became
my brother's kitten and he named him
Rascal.

The building I was working in was under
construction and I heard squeaking
noices coming from inside of the brick
wall. The plumbers had finished work on
Wednesday and this was Friday. I called
the head maintenance man to tell him
that something was wrong with the new
plumbing. He called the construction
contractor who climbed down inside the
wall to find out what was causeing the
noise. It wasn't the plumbing! It was a tiny
black kitten all alone inside the brick wall.
My husband named her Tinkerbell.

My kitten, Starling Anne, was a Christmas
present from my mom this past year
(2005) and is my first real pet. She is my
little (only 5lbs) calico princess and a holy
terror! My mom got Starling for me
because I'm moving away from home for
the first time to pursue a Masters degree
in Biology, so Starling was not only meant
to provide enjoyment for me, but also a
litle company! She is the most active cat
I have ever seen, sometimes she's
extremely crazy, but I wouldn't change
her for the world. I never thouht I could
love a kitten as much as I love her, which
I guess is evident by the fact that she
gets whatever she wants. I even carry
around a brag book to show people just
how adorable she is!

My cat Angel is 5 years old. I have had
her since she was a little baby kitten.
Once I saw her I absolutely loved her!
She is very cuddly, yet playful and is the
best cat ever. Angel loves to play and
pose for pictures. Also, Angel love to
catch birds and thinks we will be so proud
of her but were not very happy and then
she will just eat the hole thing and leave
the feathers for us to clean up! Angel
was bought at a little pet store and I
almost picked a different cat, but I am
soooo glad that I picked her, she rocks!!!

My cat Twinkle is 20 years old and blind.
She has been completely blind for 10
years. She came to live with me two years
ago when her previous family moved into
the city. They were not in favor of an
indoor cat, so Twinkle roamed outside,
but she would not have survived in the
city limits. Since coming to live with me,
she now has her own room. She is very
sweet and affectionate and loves to have
her face rubbed. Although blind, she can
find her way anywhere she wants to go
and is the boss of my other four cats.

Mitts, is by far, the most dictatorial cat in
Cat Kingdom. Do not be deceived by his
look of sheer innocence, as he lies there
blinking with half-closed eyes on my sacred
wool rug from Turkey. He is also a killer!
Yes, he eats some of the poor mice in one
gulp! Gross! Unfortunately, that isn’t all he
brings inside. Poor baby chipmunks, so
frightened they are everywhere! Up the
shower curtain, in the tub, on the clothes
hamper, between my feet while Mitts just
lies there feeling smug. Where I loose heart
is when Mitts brings in Rats! Huge ones.
NOT dead ones either. Then has the gall to
lie there watching us trying to capture
and/or kill it before the vermin jump off it
onto my rugs or us with what I can only
assume amusement at our horror. What cat
in his right mind, if he has one, vies for
complete and unpolluted worship by
constantly bringing poor defenseless
creatures (or filthy ones) in from the wilds to
prove his Kingship? It’s not as if he doesn’t
have enough food or “quality” attention. But
I’ve had it! When my husband had to
remove a tick full of my blood off me at five
o’clock in the morning, that cat door
became one-way permanently! (at least at
night). Now I smile smugly when I see his
offerings lying dead outside the cat door.
There’s more than one way to “skin a cat!”

Named Mitts for his 6th toe.

Our cat Molly, after being a week
overdue, had to have a cesarean and we
had 3 beautiful ginger kittens called
Monty, Iris and Robin. Their mother had
no milk so we had to hand rear them. We
feed them every 2 hours, even during the
night. They all survived and we're keeping
them all!

This is Little Man. He ran out of a bush
crying to me with upper respiratory
disease at 4 weeks of age .He was also
diagnosed with a heart murmur and not
expected to live very long. He could not
breath very well and I had to hand feed
him until he was 8 months old. I took him
to a heart specialist and we found his
murmur wasn't as bad as we thought but
still bad enough. He also had a polyp the
size of a grape in his upper clef. Well after
surgery, our little man is still with us
almost two years in June. He finally
gained weight, which was a task, and now
weighs 12 lbs and as you can see steals
my money... he's a joy to the addition of
my other 4 indoor cats. I named him Little
Man because I didn't want to name a cat I
wasn't gonna keep. I place as many ferals
as I can. Now we call him Little Big Man.

I was helping my parents pack their car in
the pouring rain, along with their tiny 6
week old kitten, when I heard another
kitten crying. A pitiful sight met my eyes.
He came across my lawn crying in the
rain; not only was he soaked, but he was
covered with giant red ants and horrible
fleas. We immediately picked him up and
bathed him and took him to the vet to get
some flea stuff. He wasn't quite 6 weeks
old, according to the vet. When my
husband came home and saw him, I
promised I was going to find its owner
since we already had 2 large dogs and a
very old, grumpy cat. Well, Shad is almost
2 now and still here! He helped my old cat
live another year by keeping him warm,
licking him, and even playing with him. He
bonded with my parents' kitten and plays
with him every time we visit. Shad follows
us everywhere around the house, sits on
the computer keyboard, demands water
from the faucet in the bathroom, and has
made our bed his throne. He is the most
loving cat I've ever seen and loves to be
held like a baby on your shoulder. We
love our little Shad!

This is our Yogibear. She is all
dressed up for Christmas and ready to
open her presents. She'll tear open
anything that smells like catnip.
Yogibear is 11 years old this
December 2004. She was the runt of
the litter and still only weighs 6 lbs, but
that doesn't stop her from getting her
way. She is spoiled rotten and gets
anything she wants. She even has her
own room!

MINXIE
This cat! He’s such a little pest.
So, frisky, fresh, gives me no rest.
He jumps on this and scratches that;
He’s nothing like a normal cat.
He’s on my bed; He’s in my hair;
He’s in my plants; He’s in my chair;
He’s everywhere I have to be;
That’s why I have this allergy!
It was a dark and dreary day
I thought my cat had lost his way
I looked and looked but could not find
Was nearly mad, out of my mind
Then came the call I dreaded so
His broken body lay in snow
The band of dogs had gone ahead
And left my Minxie lying dead.
The tears rolled down my cheeks so fast
I’d found my Minxie, yes, at last
But never more this frisky pest
Who’s gone to everlasting rest.
In memory of Minxie

His mother was a poor Bamboo Cat living
in the wild amongst the bamboo. Now this
little bamboo baby happily resides in our
home. He's very sweet but is too busy to
be held for more that 2 minutes. Little
Barney has too much to do! And don't
bother him or you'll hear the whiniest
meow you'll ever hear! But he is very
playful and, like all children, at bedtime
snuggles up with his parents to go to
sleep. He is checking out his new Sherpa
carrier he got from Ace Cat Furniture. He
loves it! And we love Barney.
